Whale watching has become very popular here over recent years. The whales come in close to Narooma, brought in by the currents, and by the close proximity to the nutrient-rich waters on the edge of the continental shelf.

Whale watching is increasing in popularity these days as more and more whales migrate on their annual route along the Narooma's coastline.
You will most likely experience the humpback whales, and marvel as they breach, do tail stands, and flipper slaps right up close to the boat.

Charter boats are allowed to get to within 100 metres of whales, but the rule is that if the whales approach the boats, that's alright. It's just a bonus. Sometimes they will come against the boat and look in at the passengers. Wow!
